Lost Their Music

Mecha? I mean, seriously… MECHA?

Utawarerumono done gone and jumped the shark.

Actually, I think the show’s been on a downhill slide ever since the “HAKURO SMASH!” arc. I just didn’t want to come out and say it. My overall opinion of the show is still positive, and I have to admit that it’s still a lot of fun when it wants to be. However, the story has completely fallen apart.

Oh well.

Hearing Double

I just started rewatching Figure 17 for the umpteenth time tonight, and at the end of the second episode, I suddenly realized something: Koyama Rikiya, the seiyuu for D.D., also voices Hakuro in Utawarerumono.

The funny thing is, his Hakuro is pretty much a carbon copy of his D.D. When D.D. scolds Hikaru, I hear Hakuro arguing with Eruru. When he consoles Tsubasa, I hear him comforting Aruru. Now that I’ve noticed, I can’t help but hear it.

Another interesting piece of trivia: the seiyuu for Eruru and Kamyu also had roles in Figure 17.

Eruru FTW

Fascinating results.

Despite an early surge in support for Aruru, victory was Eruru’s in the end. This isn’t surprising, of course. Eruru voters, being fine, upstanding citizens with steady jobs, are more likely to vote later in the day. Only losers and pedophiles vote early. Third party influence had little effect on the eventual outcome, much to the disappointment of admirable Kamyu fans, wacky Mukuru and Tuskuru fans, and one really confused Dori and Gura fan.

Of course, how some respondents interpreted the question at hand remains a mystery. Eruru or Aruru? Aruru or Eruru? Perhaps it was a question as to who was the better cook. Or the better Guilty Gear player. Or more likely to shop at Saks Fifth Avenue. Clearly, many respondents interpreted the question in a more… ahem… adult fashion.

Thus, we can conclude: anime fans are pervs.

Eruru or Aruru?

You must choose. But choose wisely…
