Sorry, but it’s been one of those weeks.
Also, I know the site has been slow and unresponsive the past several days. It’s just one of many issues I’m having with my host at the moment. You should see how long it takes to fetch my e-mail in the morning. Unfortunately, as usual, my host is pulling a Sanbiki no Saru act, so it’ll be fixed when it’s fixed.
It’s never easy to get back into the swing of blogging following a hiatus. It doesn’t help that my brain is still fried from the past month.
So, if you don’t mind, I’m going to chill for another week, as there are some people I’d like to see and things I’d like to do before I depart California (like go to the beach… I haven’t even laid eyes on the ocean since I’ve been out here). Anime can wait.
I do want to mention, however, that Hop Step Jump! is a year old today. Thanks for making it a great year, everyone. I’ll be back in a week.
Whew.
I still have some work to do, but the worst is behind me. Unfortunately, I’ve been fighting a horrible cold this past week, so I’m beyond exhausted. I’m down to my last few hit points.
Still, I managed a day off today for the first time in a month, so I used it to catch up on most of the anime I’ve missed. I haven’t checked out any of the new shows, however, with the exception of Nodame Cantabile (which rocks, by the way). Things will probably be weird for another week or so as I tie up some loose ends and prepare to return to Colorado - assuming I’m not asked to stick around here in Los Angeles, that is. I’ll try to blog as time allows.
Never take your work home. Or so they say.
I had been hoping I wouldn’t have to do this, but I fear I have no choice: no anime blogging for a bit. I mean, it’s only Monday, and I’ve already worked thirty hours this week. Good thing I’m a consultant.
Anyway, I’ll be slammed for at least the next two weeks, so… it’s been nice knowing you.
I hope everyone’s year has gotten off to a great start. It’s a shame my New Year’s resolution wasn’t, “Work my freakin’ ass off,” because that’s exactly what I’ll be doing for the next month.
That said, I’m glad everyone enjoyed the Year in Review. I almost didn’t go through with it for fear of lack of time, but I wanted to cap off the year on a high note. So, I grabbed my “Ganbatte!” headband, fired up the laptop, and wrote like I was cramming for the Tokyo University entrance exams. At first, I did a pretty good job staying on top of things, but then Christmas rolled around and I got all drunk and stupid on egg nog and candy canes. I actually wrote the final post at a New Year’s party.
But that’s SO last year. What’s in store for Hop Step Jump! this year?
Well, I’ve made some additions to the blogroll, for one. Honestly, in this age of anime blog feed aggregators, blogrolls have become pretty irrelevant. Still, I like to use my blogroll to highlight those blogs I read most often, and since I’ve taken to reading so many new blogs this past year, I figured it was time to update the list.
Other than that… well, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
Oh, and congratulations to Skane for posting the blog’s 2,000th comment earlier today. Kind of fitting, considering he’s one of the most prolific commenters here. Banzai!
In the next couple of days, I’ll be heading off to Los Angeles for work. I’ll be there through (at least) the end of January, and while I’ll no doubt be busy, I’m hoping the impact on the blog will be minimal. Still, I have a long drive across the desert ahead of me and a lot of work waiting upon arrival, so I’m going to take a break from blogging for a week or so until I get settled in.
Anyway, if you don’t hear from me before Christmas, just assume I’m stuck in traffic on the 405.
