Reconciliation

I don’t want to get anyone spun up, so I’ll keep this short and sweet: from here on out, I’ll be regularly blogging over here.

Now, this doesn’t mean I’m closing up shop here at Hop Step Jump. Not yet, at least. It just means I’m doing what feels right. I think this is still the proper place for long-winded editorials and reviews, but in case you haven’t noticed, I haven’t been doing much of that lately. It’s not really something I have enough time or mental energy to continue doing on a regular basis. I’m very, very tired.

But, I might as well try to make the best of it, right?

Hence, the change of scenery. I can’t go falling off the face of the earth at this point.

I’m very tired too. *hands you a cup of old fart anime watcher brand coffee*
It’s sad to see a lot of bloggers I’ve known for some time to close up shop but it happens, and forcing yourself to post sucks anyway.

Or you could always get a twitter, that helps me release those “brief thoughts” these days anyway

Is the average age for an aniblogger 16-35, perhaps? I think the #1 killer of anibloggers is gradschool?

Twitter was a godsend for me, allows me a bit more freer release of thoughts and emotions.

I think I need that kind of freedom in my blog so that it can rise from the dead. That, and also work is the #1 killer on my side.

You’re other blog’s on my feedreader as of now. ^_^

I think that we all need to step back and reflect on how and why we’re blogging every now and then - when it’s something that’s close to your heart and something you really enjoy, it becomes a very personal thing. Forcing yourself to write would indeed suck; I’ve had moments over the years where I’ve reconsidered the tone, length and frequency of what I write, because my blog has become an extension of my own trains of thought (pretentious I know, but that’s the only way I can describe it).

Most anime bloggers seem to be college/university age; the few of us who either kept going after this point or picked up the hobby later on seem to frequently mention the problems of juggling this sort of pastime with RL responsibilities. To answer Lelangir’s question, gradschool probably is a blog killer, although the combination of studies and unreliable net connections are the main culprits (the latter can hit you even if you’re out of the education system, as I found out a couple of times). The average age you suggested seems pretty spot-on to me too. I agree with Bluemist though - after I get home from work I have enough time and energy to either watch something or write about it, but not do often both!

“old fart anime watcher brand coffee”…hmm. I wouldn’t mind purchasing an entire crate of the stuff actually.

At least you’re better than Momotato.

You really should hang out on IRC and look at the things Zepy does. It is lols.

I can relate. But given that I’ve only been at this for little more than a year and a half, more props to you. :P

I won’t believe it until it’s true for at least 1 year! This is like the 10th time you said you’d stop blogging Jeff! *crosses fingers*
