Beggars Can’t Be… You Know

Just a thought, but looking at the list of new anime series for the upcoming Spring season, very little catches my eye. This is a clear departure from the past few years, in which the Spring season provided more shows I wanted to watch than there was time to watch them.

However, I realized this evening that every single show I’m currently watching will be coming to an end this month, save Shugo Chara. So, not only will I have the opportunity to sample a lot of what the coming season has to offer, but I’ll also be compelled to give anything that looks remotely interesting a fair chance. Otherwise, I’ll be hurting for stuff to watch.

And as stressful as the coming months are likely to be, I’m going to need some good anime to unwind with. It’s cheaper than booze.

Is Strike Witches anywhere on that list??? I looked, and after searching for minutes, I realized that I can’t read Japanese.

It’s on there, listed as “Summer 2008″.

You don’t likes teh Code Geass ?

There’s quite a lot of good spring season series for me actually, compared to winter. A shameless advertising but you can take a look at my preview for the spring season.

Heh. Tons of good shoujo for me.

I’ve already got Macross Frontier, Code Geass, S-A, and Vampire Knight, and those are just sequels/manga I’ve read beforehand.

There’s also that anime based on the novels by Keiichi Sigawa (Kino no Tabi), so I’ll be watching that as well.

I’m expecting a lot of sleeper hits as well.

Think positively and before you know it July and a new Hidamari sketch will be on air.

Oh, xxxHolic finally gets second season. That’s something I’m looking forward to, since first season was rather enjoyable! I have been visiting this blog (and its predecessor) for a long time, and noticed that my taste in anime is quite similar to Jeff’s (not always, but often). That’s why I dare to recommend you, Jeff, to take a look at the series. You might even like it!

    If anything, there’s always J-drama, too…

Well, think of it as a blank slate if nothing immediately grabs your attention. Then you can keep on being pleasantly surprised as the season goes on.

It’ll probably be the same old for me like every season since 2005. Watch one or two new shows of the season and watch a lot more from stuff from 10 years ago.

Hoping to watch Maison Ikkoku and Kimagure Orange Road this spring since I’ve never seen them.

I was just looking at the list and noticed that about the same goes for me, Jeff. I’m only really interested in Da Capo II Second Season, aside from that nothing really catches my eye. As opposed to this season in which I’m watching about 7 different series. Guess I’ll have more time to watch some older series in the spring though, very much like what Koji Oe said.

So, just like last season and the seaason before that it looks like I’ll be the only one going in optimistically >_

To answer a couple of questions…

I didn’t watch the first season of Code Geass. Had I watched it back when it first aired, I perhaps would have enjoyed it, but the overall concept doesn’t interest me enough that I’d want to set aside the time to watch it after the fact.

As for xxxHolic, there’s a funny story there, but to keep things simple, I’ll just say that I only watched the first few episodes of the first season and never got around to finishing it. So, I’ll just ignore the second season for now on the assumption I’ll watch the entire thing at some point in the (distant) future.

By the way, I’ll do my standard, “here’s what I’m interested in,” post for the new season later in March. There are a couple of shows that interest me, like Macross Frontier, the new Noitamina show, and the shoujo stuff.

You have a lot of old shows to catch up on IMO.

  15. 15 phossil

there is a lot of shows in that list…

I came to the conclusion that the spring season was going to be horrible then I found myself picking out 10+ shows anyway. That said, most of them look more QUALITY than quality. The only one sure be awesome is Golgo 13.

Also what’s with all the mansex this season? Ugh, fujoshi. You ruin everything.

Not interested in many Spring shows this year…? That’s too bad…

Es Opposite for mua - have never been interested in so many shows from one season…

Impz’s comment pretty much has what I’m going to say. I should mention that “Nijuu Menzou Musume” catches my interest also. At this point, Extrange will win my Quote of the Year award for the 2008 year. =P
