Apparently, it’s not too cold to brew.
Speaking of snow (or sad girls in snow, to be more exact), if you remember and enjoyed this music video by friend of Hop Step Jump and all around cool bird Wonderduck and happen to have an account at AMV.org, how about helping him out a little?
Back when I was still making music videos, I never had one make it past the first round of the Viewer’s Choice Awards, so I’m a bit envious. If you have a vote to spare, send it his way.
Oh, and following up on the previous post, Moyashimon is one of those shows I strategically passed on when it first aired, only to marathon in a single weekend after the fact. It was wonderful. An interesting factual nugget: despite being a liberal arts student, I finished college only one class short of a minor in Chemistry. The knowledge has come in surprisingly useful ever since.

Ha. Yes, Moyashimon was quite enjoyable, yet?
I WANT PLUSHIES. :3
I once had to mention Moyashimon to the students when I was teaching ACT Science Reasoning. The kids were having hard time grasping some of concepts that were repeatedly emphasized in the series, especially about exponential growth and competitions between microbes.
I can’t believe you like all of those animes you listed in the About page, yet you don’t like Death Note or Full Metal Alchemist or Naruto. It’s saddening. :(
aww… how cute…
Akari, I don’t have much interest in mainstream shounen shows. Of the shows you listed, I’ve watched one episode of Naruto (caught in on TV in Tokyo one evening while cooking dinner) and that’s it. It was an amusing episode, I’ll admit.
Don’t be saddened. We all have our own tastes in anime.
Moyashimon was a weird show. I liked bits of it, but it never delivered what I wanted in full force: amusing microbe banter. Ah well.
By the way, most clear oriental spirits tastes best when it is slightly hot. The good ones are good even when lukewarm. Of course you haven’t drunk oriental spirits for real unless you taste the infamous Chinese drink that is between 40~50% alcohol with rather pungent smell. My personal favorites are Andong Soju (http://www.andongsoju.com/eng/index.html) and Ozeki Sake.
Moyashimon never interested me, I’ll admit. I’ve read it was amusing, but it came out at a bad time for me: swamped by six or seven other series, I couldn’t make time for anything else.
Death Note, though… that’s worth the time.
Thanks for the plug, Jeff! “…Angel” owes a lot of it’s success (what there is) to your help in the creation phase (despite the small fire).
We’ll find out results on Monday!
I would have preferred more microbe banter as well, but the alternative was nice in its own way. My biggest complaint about the show is that it ended too soon… there were a lot of plot threads that were never fully explored, and it seemed like the show came to an end just as it was getting going. I assume the manga is more involved.
Oh, and Maglor… I don’t drink sake as often as I used to. I used to drink it a lot in college. Oddly enough, when I was in Japan, I rarely drank it at all. It was beer, beer, and more beer. Which meant, of course, that I got hooked on Japanese beer, which is expensive and hard to find in any real variety here in the States. Same with decent sake, for that matter.
I marathoned the last nien episodes, does that count? I agree that the series ends too soon. Why not take us all the way up to Hasegawa’s PhD or Sawaki’s bachelor’s degree? Azumanga Daioh with microbes.
This looks like it was made to promote the manga (success: the print runs of several volumes appear to have been exhausted). The publisher probably viewed it as something of a gamble. Maybe they’ll decide the gamble paid off and go for another season.
I ended up buying the manga on the strength of the anime.
Kamosuzo~!
Chemistry… minor? Which means… taking OChem voluntarily!?
That’s… hardcore… or should I say masochistic?
Despite interest, Moyashimon’s one of the shows that I’ve left on the backburner too… I suppose I should hurry up and marathon it when I have time.
Interestingly enough, Moyashimon is one of the few shows that some friends of mine have been bantering me to watch (along with True Tears) but I’ve never really found the time. Although I barely have a full plate this season for viewing (I count only Shana, CLANNAD, and now ARIA as series I’ve followed with any frequency), real time is really making it very hard to make time for any regular viewing. Heck, I just finished a full viewing of both seasons of Higurashi last week (both enjoyable, first season for the exposition and mystery, the second season for resolution). Ugh.
Eep, I meant real-life. Funny how working for a brokerage firm can mess up even something as simple as ‘casual’ anime watching, huh?
> I WANT PLUSHIES. :3
They did plushies already.
@Jeff: That’s okay, I’m not that saddened. It is my way of expressing disappointment that some people don’t appreciate something as worthwhile as Death Note. Although I agree, it’s all personal preference.
