Ahahaha, I have those phases sometimes. Hinano tricks everyone! There are some pretty good ones out there. I’m not the biggest follower in the world, but it never hurts to experience a broad range of media.
Hotaru no Hikari… I actually finished it this evening. Next up is Hanayome to Papa. I figured I’d start with completed series and ease into the newer stuff once I’m good and addicted.
If anything, it’ll be good for the times I’m bored out of my mind at home and don’t have any new anime to watch. I could use the variety, too.
I actually watched Hotaru no Hikari over a week ago and it was instant win for me after the first episode. Rather tempting to start downloading other j-dramas to watch but it would just increase my backlog even further.
For completed series, I recommend Sekai no chuushin de ai wo sakebu (features the lead from hotaru no hikari), Nobuta wo Produce, Yama onna Kabe onna, and rounding off the list is Proposal Daisakusen.
Ahah, same. Starts out as something you do in passing and then it slowly consumes you. My first was Densha Otoko… annnd my favorite is Nodame Cantabile… lovely stuff.
Lol. I can relate to that quite a bit. I occasionally watch J-dramas now and then. I initially saw one when I was totally bored on a lazy and boring day without new anime subs out. My list is now on 5 (mostly manga/anime to live-action stuff) with 1 K-drama (Coffee Prince) in the mix. I liked Nodame Cantabile and Hanazakari no Kimitachi e, both are completed J-drama series. Enjoyably hilarious. =)
If you are starting into Drama but like the comedy and drama series. I would suggest the following J Drama……
1) Glass no Kamen (Glass mask, Drama)
2) Hana Yori Dango (Hysterical!!)
3) My Little Chef (Wonderful piece for cooking each episode is self contained.)
4) Wedding Planner (has everything!)
5) Forbidden Love (More drama but very good, not a comendy)
As for KDrama I vote for
1)Goong aka Imperial Household (Drop dead funny!!)
2) Winter Sonata (serious Drama)
Come over to the dark side bwahahah!
So which drama you watching?
Fujoshi Deka is pretty funny =P

My first ever drama was Stand Up!! it was pretty hillariuos.
For some good serious business fun, try Orange Days - I really like that one.
For some tears and drama try 1 Litre of Tears and Majo no Jouken. And for some good old kansai ben granny’s I recommend Akimahende!
Since my parents sometimes watch J-dramas (they’re Korean), maybe I should give it a try too…
It’s a trap! Nyoooooooooo…
Make sure you watch Great Teacher Onizuka. Its absolutely hilarious.
Long Vacation. No doubt still the best drams in my over 10 years of dorama watching.
I got my friend hooked on J-Drama now he doesn’t watch anime anymore. You should watch more J-Drama manga/anime adaptations then you will be okay!
I thought Hotaru no Hikari was very good in the beginning but got quite annoyed with Amemiya toward the end.
Orange Days and Long Vacation are great! 1 Liter of Tears was really good too but got too draggy at the end.
Riding the same river at the moment.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. Looks like I won’t be hurting for shows to watch.
“This does not bode well”

Nodame Cantabile is very recommended. I’ve watched the full anime series, and enjoyed it a lot. I hope the drama to be a topnotch production.
