A Slice of Life

After finishing Kanon earlier this year, I made a pledge to rewatch it come Winter. Except, when ADV announced its licensing of the show and set the release date for the first DVD in January, I decided it might be better to just wait. I originally wanted to both marathon and watch it in the proper season, however, so… well, I pulled out my fansubs and started watching last night. I’ll be purchasing the DVDs, obviously, but I figure there’s no harm in rewatching the show now.
So, aside from paying a short visit to my parents tomorrow, that’s how I’ll be spending my holiday weekend. It sounds pathetic, I know, but with the cold and the snow, I’d rather just stay inside where it’s warm. Home is where the heat is.
Speaking of which, while discussing televisions last week, a certain ghost of anime blogging past asked if I was planning to follow up on this post, seeing as I moved to a new place over half a year ago. People always seem to find this sort of thing interesting, so I suppose I should. Hence, I present to you the new and improved Hop Step Jump nerve center, now with more display space.
Clearly, a shiny new TV would look nice in there, and I were feeling impatient, I’d take advantage of Black Friday and pick something up for a cheap, but… well, what’s the weather forecast look like for that morning?
“Mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of snow. Lows around 10F.”
I think I’ll just stay in bed.

Holy crap, what are all the prints? Hoshiii da.
Rewatching Kanon doesn’t sound pathetic. Trying to schedule time to catch up on anime shows and relearning SQL and stressing over server rebuilds by a hosting company is pathetic.
Wow. A tasteful looking room that is filled with anime crap! And they said it couldn’t be done.
I’m hoping to get Kanon rewatched sometime during December as well. It only makes since :D
And, I really love that room! That is a seriously large amount of DVDs and prints… I’m quite jealous!
Pete, the prints are a combination of postcards, pencil boards, and other promotional material I’ve acquired over the years. When it comes to anime goods, artwork is my weakness.
You’re rewatching Kanon, and I’m working on another Kanon AMV… it’s the snow, that’s gotta be it.
I wish I could spend the time to marathon kanon like that but I’ll probably wait till I’m not watching Clannad at the same time. I’ve been wanting to re-watch gurren lagann myself. And your room looks very cool and definitely tasteful.
A cat is fine too.
ah, i’ve always liked the layout of HSJ - clean and simple, yet very well chosen pictures that draw in the attention - cool to see that it carries over into your sense of interior design, too. very effective use of wall space - theres enough wall to make it not seem crowded, yet every area has something to highlight it. love the placement of the pictures on the shelf! looks random but has a very fresh pattern to it.
now i realize that the curtains are drawn to get a good photo, but i hope you’re not keeping them drawn all day! looks like you get some good sunlight in there, let it in! sunlight is good for the body :D
Actually, the shades are a permanent fixture; I prefer softer, warmer, and filtered sunlight, which they provide. That, and the view sucks… if I had a southern exposure like my next door neighbor, I’d have a great view of the Rocky Mountains.
Anyway, it’s generally brighter inside than the photo suggests. For one, I intentionally underexposed it. Also, since the windows face north, they don’t receive direct sunlight this time of year (this is what it looks like outside today at noon… note the shadows, the unmelted snow, and the fact that light in the foreground is on in the middle of the day). There’s only so much light available.
