Because I forgot a few things…
Hitohira - The first episode piqued my interest. In some ways, it reminds me of Canvas 2, but minus the angst. Perhaps it’s just the color palette. One complaint, though… someone forgot to run the vocals in the OP through an auto-tune plugin. Otherwise, it’s a lovely song.
Emma: Second Act - I have a confession to make: I never finished watching the first season of Emma. The last few episodes have been sitting on my hard drive for a year and a half. Seriously. I should probably do something about that.
Zero no Tsukaima: Second Season - For some reason, I thought this was airing later in the year. I truly enjoyed the first season, and I remember wishing for a sequel, so… well, it’s a given that I’ll be watching this. I have a crush on Louise, I admit.
UPDATE: Never mind. It is airing later in the year. Until then, TV Kanagawa will be rebroadcasting the first season. It’s amazing what one can learn by reading.
Bokurano - In all honesty, this isn’t my kind of show, but I was so taken by the trailer (and the accompanying Ishikawa Chiaki song) that I feel compelled to at least check it out. It seems like a cross between Narutaru and Sokyuu no Fafner - two shows that, despite their seductive premises, left me disappointed in the end. It’s worth a try, though.

A crush on *LOUISE*?! Man, you’re killing me. The whole premise of the show is that she’s a worthless bitch personality-wise, yet the hero passes up far better chances because of the working relationship and shared adventures he “enjoys” with her. Either I am going senile, or someone has spiked your bottled water with acid, or maybe Japanese cartoons rot our brains.
isn’t the ZnT ad just for a re-broadcast of the first season? Official site shows a July 2nd start for the second season.
You’re right, Selkirk… I just went back and took a closer look, and sure enough, it’s a rebroadcast of the first season. No wonder I was confused.
I actually haven’t finished Emma myself… I need to get back to that again, if just for the music. :3
Cool series, to keep an eye on them….
^_^
I want to watch one of the mechas this year…
Louise? It’s all about Siesta! Of course, one of my friends will disagree and say that it’s all about Tabitha. =P
I’ll end up watching “Hayate” and some of the other series later.
“It seems like a cross between Narutaru”
Well, it is by the same guy who did Narutaru, so that comes as no surprise, I guess. I’ve not seen/read Narutaru, but I hear this guy loves writing stories about children killing themselves through their own actions, because he really hates kids. Which sounds awesome.
that really sounds too retarded to be true…
The anime adaptation of Narutaru suffers from poor execution, I think. The concept was interesting enough, but the show itself was just a bit too schizophrenic. I couldn’t really figure out what it was trying to do. Perhaps the manga was the same way… I don’t know. If anything, I felt the primary point of Narutaru was to simply put the characters through hell, and the story was just tacked on to provide some semblance of substance (and hold your attention). It’s manipulative, in a way.
Bokurano looks to be more straight-forward, though…
Surprisingly, at least compared to last season and Summer 06, lots of shows this time around that I’m interested in checking out. Going through the list, ones I’ll check - or have already - are Lucky Star, Touka Gettan (since it comes from Yamibou creators), Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (Gainax is always worth checking, if one forgives them Mahoromatics), Darker than Black (though I know nothing about that one), Heroic Age (Fafner was kickass so I can’t pass this up), El Cazador (even though it -looks- like Noir/Avenger/Madlax rehash from the company that made said three), Romeo and Juliet and Seirei no Moribito (cause it is I.G); plus with certain reservations Bokurano (eh?), Kissdum (though I don’t expect this to be good), Kaze no Stigma (I expect this to suck), Nagasarete Ariantou, Hayate (I’m afraid this’ll be some sort of generic harem-fest pretending to be comedy) and Sola (only because of Kanon/Da Capo connection that I read of). Probably half of these won’t make the cut in the end…
I was slightly interested in checking Seto no Hanayome until I read the first manga volume, which revealed it to be a very generic comedy. Claymore I won’t see because I read the first few chapters year-two years back and it appeared to be a Berserk Extra-Lite; I do read Berserk but I get my fill of the genre off that, I don’t need a poor wannabe for extra reading on the side.
“One complaint, though… someone forgot to run the vocals in the OP through an auto-tune plugin.”
Auto-tune plugin? I didn’t find it off key or anything..
Hey, Jeff, not too sure if you are interested in cute shows but Kamichama Karin has a bit of mahou shoujo-ness in it and I think you might like it for some strange reason. Don’t ask me why.
Impz, I mentioned Kamichama Karin in my first Spring Preview. I’ll probably write something about the first episode in the next few days.
