My guess why there is little subs for it is due to the context of the show that requires a good understanding of japanese language to grasp all the jokes for the translation. Ya, Still, my favorite series and I am amazed myself that I am about the only person following this series in blogging.
I do hope more people do it because Hidamari Sketch is totally awesome ^+^
In Korea, this series is receiving a somewhat mixed reception. Casual viewers see this as ARIA alternative, a calm series where light jokes are the main attraction, thus more or less see once and forget type, while the ‘Otaku’ level guys really digs this series. I am more or less following this series, as most of jokes, other than the ‘Saw in the Water’ joke carries well into Korean, even the ’stairs’ and ‘horror story’ one as they sound somewhat similar in Korea as well. Nice show to cool off for me.
After watching the show, I find that watching the ED standalone doesn’t work, but watching it at the end of a Hidamari Sketch episode works wonders. The show is charming, and I did get “LOL Aria” vibes from the second episode. I like it. :3
Oh, and I probably should have been a little more clear… it’s the song I love. The ED animation is nice, of course (especially in context), but it’s the song itself that first caught my attention.
Hmm, reading parts of your blog I missed (quite something) but I have had this anime around my pc and I have watched the first episode… I can’t remember hearing the ED, I’m considering downloading it again since it’s faded my mind completely (don’t hit me). And as state earlier, there is some aria feeling into it, even though it’s a new something undescribable something (at least for me).
Not sure what to say about it after hearing the ED from the link you gave, but I kept pressing PLAY when it finished. untill I have finished to get it. This will certainly be one of the songs I play a lot, I like the free feeling i get from it, no worries and such.
this anime is very nice… same goes to the song too.. especially the ending song… its a great anime.. by the way, can i request for hidamari sketch ending song lyrics a.k.a mebae drive by marble lyrics? thank you…

Me too. The song is pure awesome wrapped in wonderful and dipped in refreshing.
And the ED animation sequence suits the song perfectly and like the rest of the show, is probably the most aesthetically pleasing in all of anime.
Us, Manabi partisans, can never be overcome! Especially with such puny weaponry as this!
Well, for what it’s worth, Manabi Straight is a fine show in its own right.

Indeed, and considering that it’s one of the shows people keeps touting this season, I’m surprised (somewhat) at the lack of subs for it.
And on the ED, it didn’t grab me, though the animation had some nice touches to it. :3

But my sentiment stands that it’s better in context of the show than just listening to the song by itself.
I watch just 2 animes every season (which I consider, a year) and only pick up a new one when one of them ends… I’m really bad with names…
