Can’t Trust the Police…

You know what? The opening synth line in the You’re Under Arrest Second Season OP is TOTALLY a rip-off of the horn line in Phil Collin’s “Something Happened on the Way to Heaven.”

Just thought I’d mention that.

(I tried to work a Sting joke into this, but alas…)

I’ll take your word for it. Until I see for myself … IF it ever gets licensed!!!!

i just happen to be up to episode 6 of season 2… but yeah! those 5 rising synth notes (when the bridge appears in the opening sequence) are identical!… but then again, 5 notes may not qualify as a rip-off?… my ex (she’s a musician) says it takes 7 notes…

I suppose that with so many songs out there, something’s BOUND to be repeated…

I think it’s amusing more than anything else. It’s not the most well-known of Phil’s solo tunes, and one riff doesn’t a complete rip-off make. *shrug*

Amusing, though. I had to double-check against the original track.

Took a long time ’till I heard it. I didn’t find any personal info on the composer http://d.hatena.ne.jp/keyword/??? but he did other songs you might have, so we *could* search for Collins influence…

For something more obvious compare Kanno Youko’s kaze ga fuku hi (Escaflowne lovers only track 18) to Madonna’s Crazy for you.

Seems more of a coincidence to me, but amusing regardless. Better luck next time on that Sting joke, though.
