Thankfully, damage was light…
Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro Na - The acting stinks, the animation stinks, and the premise isn’t all that interesting. Still, it’s managed to hold my attention for a couple of episodes. It’s mediocre… but mediocre in an acceptable way. I suppose I’ll make it a low priority watch for the time being.
Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru - This turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Except… you know how, when you eat too much of a sweet snack, you often feel like ass afterwards? That’s sort of how I felt after watching the first episode. It’s GOOD… but I don’t know if I can stomach it week after week.
Tokimeki Memorial - A lot goofier than I expected, but being a Konami show, I shouldn’t be surprised. It strikes me as a fun, yet entirely forgettable show… which is why I’ll probably forget to watch the second episode. Thumbs up, though!
Happiness - I couldn’t even finish the first episode. “Generic” doesn’t even begin to describe it. I’m also amazed by how cheap the animation looked… it’s as if Artland blew their entire budget before the show even began.
Lovely Idol - I sing for REVENGE motherfucker!

Otome wa Boku… (what’s the shorthand for this? :) ) surprised me as well. I knew it was a ‘trap’ show beforehands, so I had a certain attitude when going into this… but it turned out differently. Hopefully they keep up the comedy angle as it is the best thing this show has going for it. And the ‘toilet humor’. ;P
Happiness. Another trap show for the season. Not going to check this out. I notice that Jun is getting a lot of threads on 4chan, what a surprise.
Lovely Idol - oh my god! I was expecting a generic show with a lot of stpid server on the side, but this completely blew up my expectations. Almost half of the show is singing idols that cater to various fetishes, and some looking like clones of females from certain other shows doesn’t help. Then we have the dramatic cliffhanger with ‘I sing.. for revenge.’ The first show in years that I actually started skipping through because I couldn’t stand it. A complete trainwreck.
No subs for others out yet, so…
“it’s as if Artland blew their entire budget before the show even began”
lol, nice one, though I don’t really mind the animation for that show as much
sorry for double posting but short for otome wa boku ni koishiteru is ‘otoboku’ i think
Otoboku, Tokimemo, Happiness. Now these are my picks. I find Happiness to be completely amazing, even more so than Otoboku. Otoboku seems just like that I My Me Strawberry Eggs thingy but with cute girls. Tokimemo has the hottest girls around.
What is it with the concept of willing little girls enduring a term of servitude to their seniors( OtoBoku, SPanic, etc…)? What sparked off this concept, because I don’t recall such instances in RL history.
That said, I am curious about who is the Ghost Chibi in the ED. Oh, and the opening was very squeamish.
Cheers.
>>> when you eat too much of a sweet snack, you often feel like ass afterwards?
May I suggest a good antidote for this symptom? Try ‘Bartender’. I have no idea how to rate that show, but the first episode wasn’t too bad. In age of lolis, this is one of the rare no-loli show.
>What is it with the concept of willing little girls enduring a term of servitude to their seniors
Frat houses.
Out of those probably only going to bother with just Otome and Tokimemo. Maybe Crescent Love out of its nonoffensiveness and sub availability, who knows.
I just noticed that Nabeshin is the Ekonte of Tokimemo. Afro Banzai!
I’m going to watch the first episode of Lovely Idol just to see what inspired JLawson to write that.
Hands down the best one is Tokimeki Memorial. Followed by Cresent Love and Otoboku.
You have to absolutly be able to stand to watch Lovely Idol and shows like it, its one of those - love it or hate it, no inbetween.
Happiness is just ordinary. Nothing stand-outish about it.
You chose to list Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro Na, but not Negima?!
I think Negima?! is more bishoujo then Cresent Love, even if it is a retelling.
Lmao, the damage was light indeed.
I was just listing the game-based bishoujo shows. That, and I haven’t watched Negima?! yet (I know, I know).
Ah I see, I see.
I really didn’t get into the original Negima!, but since someone took the time to remake it, I thought ah what the hell. lmao.
So then no Gift ~eternal.rainbow~ watching? I have heard good things from my fellow bishoujo friends.
Revenge! lol oh god
The bishoujo attack has me in the grasps.
I started watching the first episode of Gift ~ Eternal Rainbow ~ this evening, but the only thing available was a giant H.264 encode… which my fansub viewing machine doesn’t handle all that well. I suppose I could just watch it on my notebook… or watch it raw.
The first few minutes were OK. The character designs kind of bugged me, though… all iris. Kirino looked possessed.
Okay, I have watched the first episode of Lovely Idol. The candy-floss at the start of the episode was killing me, but Jeff Lawson’s quote kept ringing in my head. Saccharine overdose be damned, I must watch on. My curiosity demands it.
Wait, what is this? ANOTHER SONG?!?! Oh lardy, what have I done to deserve this? The songs are not terrible, but I don’t watch anime for this sort of entertainment. Resolve… disappearing…
“I sing for REVENGE motherfucker!”
While I suppose it is hard work to be an Idol in real life, I care little for their daily routines, and some of the voices really grate on my nerves, especially the ‘meow’ girl. Good grief, how I wish I could punt her into orbit. Why am I watching this again?
“I sing for REVENGE motherfucker!”
Tis amazing how pure curiosity can push a man to stay his despair and endure the fluff. I finally hit paydirt when they introduced the guitar girl. Finally, is this it? Is this the source of the DAMN RINGING IN MY HEAD?!?!
YES!
“I sing for REVENGE motherfucker!”
Whew… finally got that out of my system. I blame Jeff Lawson for doing this to me. :P
~~~~ ~~~~
Well… now I am curious enough to watch the next episode and see whether Lovedol will have the emotional potential to catch my interest. Guitar Girl is interesting enough thus far to make me watch this, but the OP and ED worries me, because Guitar Girl is all dere-dere in them, and I hope she does not become lobotomised for the sake of romantic comedy.
PS: I blame Zyl & JLawson for this one.
Cheers.
Hmm. The cccp plays everything pretty well. You should try it if you haven’t yet.
Haha, all iris. Maybe that was an inside pun for the show too. Anyway, I see what you mean, but really it only seems like it the lead female characters, everyone else looks porportionalized. As for the character designs, they kinda remind me of DearS.
Ya first ep was okayyy. Nothing special. There are just much better shows to watch like Asatte no Houkou, Death Note, Kanon, Ghost Hunt ect ect ect.
Sorry, I should clarify… I can play the file just fine (I use CCCP). It’s just that my fansub machine isn’t powerful enough to handle large H.264 encodes. Too much lag in panning scenes.
Outside of “Kanon”, I’m not watching much else. I’m upset that there’s a “Tokimemo Online” anime though. “II” should have received an anime next, not “Online”, as “II” has terrific characters. I still think Ayako’s the best girl of the series though.
