I’m no good at keeping up with coming attractions, so I won’t bother doing an in-depth preview of the coming anime season. You can really only discern so much from websites and promotional videos. And, besides, every time I make plans to watch certain shows, I just end up watching something different.
Still, I can at least assure you that I’ll be watching both Kanon (duh) and Asatte no Houkou. Other than that, I’m somewhat interested in the following shows: Tokimeki Memorial, Kujibiki Unbalance, Happiness, Code Geass, Pumpkin Scissors, and Hataraki Man.
Honestly, it looks like a slow season for me. That’s a good thing, though. It gives me more time to fawn over Kanon and rewatch some old favorites. Of course, I’ll continue watching Nana, Bokura ga Ita, and NHK ni Youkoso.

Once again, you put up a cute picture that arose my interest. Care to mention which anime it is from or based on?
Futari wa Pretty Cure.
Thanks!
Asatte no Houkou sounds awesome. It could be one of better shows.
You missed mentioning Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro na, based what is apparently one of the best bishoujo games of 2005. Red Garden too, but I don’t know if you’re a Rozen Maiden fan like I am.
Gift ~Eternal Rainbow~ looks like your cup of tea, since it’s based on a Circus (the company who made Da Capo) game.
I looked at Red Garden, and while it appears interesting, I’m not sold… in particular, the character designs really put me off. Hello, Japan? Americans don’t have giant noses.
As for the bishoujo shows, they’re interchangeable. I’m sure I’ll pick up one or two (they’re good filler)… I just don’t know which one or two it’ll be. Tokimeki Memorial only gets a nod for sentimental reasons.
But, yeah, I’m really excited about Asatte no Houkou. Kobayashi Shichiro (Simoun, Figure 17, To Heart, Utena) is the Art Director, so I know it’ll at least be gorgeous.

D.Gray-Man’s worth a look
Fall season looks bit slow, but… there was a SUMMER season on 2006? If not for Honey&Clover II, I might’ve missed the fact entirely.
While I’m not a Kanon fan - due to lack of familiarity with the entire franchise - I’m still going to check it out, if only because of Kyoto Animation. They’ve proven their talent and the preview speaks of high production values (at least until they run out of money ;). Black Lagoon is another no-brainer. If it is more of the same, then it is thumbs up.
Then the more iffy choices. I might take a peek at Tokimeki, simply to see what the fuss is about with the fans of the game. There’s been shows of playing go and making bread before, so I’ll also look at Bartender on that reason alone. Pumkin Scissors seems some type of action-y show, but the stupid name makes me curious. ^_^ I dislike character designs of Code Geass but I’ll look at it to see what the interwebs buzz is about. Kujibiki Unbalance is on my list too, simply because it was ‘featured’ in Genshiken. I’ll look at Asatte and Happiness, because Jeff lists them. :P
Beyond these… that Primo Passo seems to be about music, but the character designs are distrubingly bishie, enough to set my alarm bells ringing. Crescent Love has such a long full name it must be based on some game. Death Note the manga, they say, started good but ends up craptastic; I guess I’ll pass the animated rendition as well. Marginal Prince… the site has no goo dimages of characters, but are they all male? If so, maybe it’ll be the token yaoi-vibe show of the season. Seems there’s more of Hell, Girl! too but I passed on the first after two episodes so *shrug*. Surprisingly, no shows that set off me yuri-meter. Maybe they’ve gotten their fill of strawberries, mikos and Maria-samas for a while?
Unlike Summer(2006), my To-Watch list for Fall(2006) is considerably longer.
..) Kanon. This is a given. Even in the off-chance that it turns out to be a spectacular trainwreck of a show, I will still watch it to the bitter end if only because KyoAni has done enough to compel me to give them at least one free Trainwreck-Card.
..) Black Lagoon:2nd Season. If you have enjoyed the first season, you need no further reason.
..) ~Crescent Love. I blame Stripey for inciting my curiosity in this one. It also does not help that purple is my favourite colour. The colours of this show alone screams love to me. If you beat up Nemu till she turned purple, I would probably love her too, there and then.
..) Bartender. Simply because of the non-descriptive title. For all I know, it could be an anime about a secret agent who fronts as a bartender. Or maybe it will be a slice-of-life where he dispenses life-shattering enlightment onto the drunkards that frequent the bar. Hell, it could be just a documentary on the origins of cocktails for all I know.
~~~~ ~~~~
On the To-Try list,
..) Busou Renkin. I like anime girls with well-placed scars that do not lower their beauty, but enhances it instead. Also, any anime that has a chance for psycho-moe girls is to be seen by me.
..) D-Grayman. I know nothing of this anime, except that my more well-versed manga-reading friends are badgering me to give this a try.
..) Pumpkin Scissors. The military action seems interesting. Lots of scarfaces too.
..) Sumomomo Momomo. If only to hear how they say the title.
Cheers.
I’ll probably check out Kanon to see what made it so special for those that are fans, and Kujian to see how it will be done while lamenting a lack of Genshiken Season 2. :3
