Somehow I always feel bleeding-heart-bad about people making money off misfortune of others, even if it’s in a very positive, fictional way like how it is with the Poor Sisters Story.
What’s funny is that, despite being abandoned, the girls still have a roof over their heads and stay fed. Everyone in the neighborhood looks out for them, too. It’s a tough life, no doubt, but it could be a hell of a lot worse.
I’ll admit that I find the show cute in an “Ah, geez…” sort of way. I can understand people not liking the show (for all sorts of reasons), but it surprises me how nasty some are about it. I suppose it’s not a show for cynics, of which there’s no shortage in anime fandom.
You know, that might just be the rub. To be able to control how fast you flip the pages and read the dialogues rule when the main attraction is “Ah, geez…”
All these negativity despite the possibility that, in my opinion, the show improved in many aspects in recent episodes. I liked how Asu was made to do various exercises to sing better, because for some people, they do need to get some physical exercises to gaine and improve control of muscles arounf diaphragm. I, myself, was made to go through various exercises in some of my vocal training sessions.
Regarding recent episodes, I’d have to agree. I don’t know if the sap has been toned down or if it’s simply grown more palatable with time… all I know is that the show no longer feels as if it’s shooting for little more than a chorus of “Awwwwww…” from the studio audience. Less exploitation and more story, I guess.
Hahaha. Well, nasty or not, but the show just went beyond the level where I don’t have patient to polite anymore. This should be perfect setting for me and it is, stretching just ruin it.
actually, binban was one of the few anime that i tried to watch. I didn’t really get very interested after the first episode and decided to put it in the “I will go get it when i finish all my other anime” folder. I then went to watch the 2nd episode to give it yet another chance.
Didn’t really work. =/
Eventually, i forgot about it. I wondered whether it will be good or bad though. I will wait and surf around before seeing whether i should blog about it. For now, i think i will wait for a day when i feel like going “oh, so poor thing T_T”… I generally have those moods once in a while.

Actually, I think the manga does it better. The anime seems to stretch the suffering -and the kawaiiness - out more than I can handle.
Make mine Manga! ^_^

It’s kind of hard to watch this series after Kore-eda’s Nobody Knows (Daremo shiranai).

Could be the random attacks of pink flowers are easier to handle, too.

Well, I mean Daremo Shiranai isn’t supposed to make you go “Awwwww, how adorable!” But yeah, that movie is infinity times better than this.
Also, I haven’t watched this show so I’m pulling that judgement out of my ass, but still, Daremo Shiranai is a really really good movie.
