My first thought upon seeing the cover was, “I’d like to see the text.” My second thought was, “Isn’t it kind of early to announce something like this?”
Consider…
Historically, KyoAni only works on one show at a time. Obviously, they’re currently busy gearing up for Kanon. Kanon begins in October and should run until April. So, a second season of Haruhi couldn’t begin until April at the earliest. Of course, the studio would probably take a season off to prepare (as they’re currently doing for Kanon), so a July start would be more likely. That’s practically a year away. How often are projects announced a year ahead of time?
In other news, Newtype September announces that there will be a big Evangelion scoop in October’s issue (so says http://www.animenewsnetwork.com, missing the Haruhi story.
That’s only six months, though (which is typical). It was announced at the very end of March, if I remember correctly.
Obviously, shows are occasionally announced a full year ahead of time, but it’s not the standard way of doing things. Without detailed information, I’d be automatically skeptical of such announcements.
Jeff - on an unrelated note, are any of these post illustrations yours? I suspect that “Ruuuuuuuu!’ was, and this one is so apropos of the post, it’s hard to believe that even Google Image or Danbooru could fill the bill…
No ill will intended, of course. I just find it amusing that this has happened twice in one week. Take care when trafficking in speculation, folks!
Don’t forget the virus - one mustn’t forget the Haruhi virus. :D

I found the title alone of this entry amusing.
If this instead was for season 3 of Rozen Maiden, I’d be on a murderous rampage right about now.
I swear never again to post random news I find on IRC channels.
Didn’t had time to really confirm the news actually, since I saw it like 15mins before I was supposed to go out with a friend.
And after a semi-hellish movie and some (forced) alchohol, I come back dead tired to find this…
Never before I have felt so ORZ’ed.
*pats Kurogane on the back*
Don’t worry too much, it happens to everyone. :)
This is going to turn into the anime version of “GeneralĂsimo Francisco Franco is still dead!”
God knows… if any of these rumors will ever come true.

Often enough. Kyoani announced Kanon in March. Madhouse annouced Highlander in 2005. I dunno, man.
