I have a post on the topic du jour drawn up, but I can’t decide if I should post it or not.
Is it too antagonistic? Maybe. Actually, probably not. But, there it sits, marked as a “draft”, taunting me. I don’t have an image to go with it, though. Yet. That might guarantee that it never gets posted. It’s happened before. Ugh. Is it even a topic worth discussing? Does it really matter? Beats me. I think I’ll go back to watching Natsumi and Miyuki mow down pedestrians.

I think I found your image. Ah… a heartwarming scene of how readers gently encourage bloggers to publish their drafts. :P
Looking forward to the post. :)
Go for it. And it is my intention to send quality anime into the mainstream. If that “thing” works out, then perhaps then things will start to turn around. (we should probably be getting our results in this week)
BTW are those your drawings? They’re very nice.
I highly suggest you post it.
Speaking of which, I ought to gather my views on this as well.
It’s a horse beaten to death. I’d say avoid it until you get an interesting pitch to it.
“Fansubbing Is Bad For Domestic Anime Companies” again? Regardless of your viewpoint, Jeff, whatever you post is going to bring out the same three types of commentors from the woodwork that a post on that topic brings out anywhere: “Fansubbing is stealing!” “Fansubbing isn’t stealing!” and “Fansubbing… is a complex element in a far more complex business environment, and thus can’t be unequivocally hailed or blamed.”
Unless, of course, you’ve got a rant about “mainstream anime fandom” tucked up your sleeve. In that case, I’m highly curious… and you can ignore the previous paragraph. *chuckle*
In recent years, Korean drama has gained popularity in various Asian Nations, due to various reasons. One of the big reason was the Korean TV networks made it avaible for all their show to be downloaded, within 48 hours of broadcast, for small fee plus little montly fee as well. They also made the script available as well, again for a fee around 10 to 20 cents each. The way that network figures it, is that since they won’t make much money on video/dvd sales anyway, they will opt for low maintanance easy money of internet download, on top of ad revenue. They even put some ads on the file and gather furhter revenue from advertiser. No doubt that the quality of downloads could be better and they could keep the archives open longer, but the business model already exists, has shown to give networks some extra revenue for tiny bit of extra labor, and also gave new rise venue for the advertisers as well. It is the Dilbert like atmosphere in the business office that is hindering the application of existing models and limiting our options on viewing anime and other entertainment.
Actually, I barely touch on fansubbing. That horse has indeed been beaten to death. The post is more an indirect response to this.
I’ll post it later today… once I find a top image.
I think that’s still a dead horse. It’s one thing people are ignorant (still? it’s the 21st century!) about copyright and how the business works, but that’s just ignorant people.
i try to find something at google.com and take it on your site…thanks
