There’s Bugs Under My Skin, Doc!

Oh, how happy I am to be done with that. No rest for the weary, though. The new house won’t be ready until late March, so it’s motel life for me until then. It’s not all that bad, I suppose, but there’s one tiny little problem: the internet access sucks.

I mean, it’s bad. Really bad. It’s DSL, but the connection is so marginal that it might as well be ISDN. Actually, I’m not even sure it’s that fast. It’s good enough for the most basic of web browsing, but downloading fansubs is pretty much out of the question. There is some good news, however…

Longmont, high-tech hippy enclave that it is, has something like 50 coffee shops. In fact, the area ranks seventh in the nation for most coffee shops per capita. They’re everywhere. And, luckily, the majority offer free wireless internet. So, for the price of a double latte, I might be able to jump on IRC every so often and go on a downloadin’ bonanza. I’ll go in search of the best “coffee” in town some time tomorrow.

If that doesn’t work out… well… you might have to put up with me babbling about oldies for a month.

Oldies is good. Bloggin’ community could certainly use some more retro-takes. Whatcha got? :D :D

Now that’s expresso delivery. Good luck with your search =D.

Hehe, nothing wrong with oldies. ^^ (altough I would probably die without new stuff to watch..)

Oldies are good for your health. We need to feel nostalgic every now and then.

Yes, I second Mohammad’s comment. There’s still plenty of stuff left to discuss about oldies!

How old do you want to get? To the Mazinga Z level?

That pic a a nice funny moment in AIR.

(I’m the guy from Longmont. We exchanged e-mails a couple weeks ago.)

If you stop by the Eternal Anime club I mentioned in my e-mail, we’ve got a nice fat pipe you can use (gotta love those university Internet connections!). It averages 5-8Mbps most weekends. You can get some serious downloading done in a short time, provided the torrents are well-seeded. Alternatively, if you’d like, I can do some downloading for you and burn a weekly DVD or some such. All you’d have to do is let me know what shows you’re following and what group’s fansubs to get. Chances are I’m already downloading what you’d want anyway. ;)

Thanks, Greg. I might try to make it down there this coming Sunday. This past Sunday, I was bumming around up in the mountains.

A friend is in town and staying in a nice hotel (i.e., fat pipe), so I borrowed his connection last night to grab a week’s worth of new episodes. Now I just need to to find the time to watch them… and blog something.

Ah, I see…after so much coffee you won’t be able to sleep for five days, but that gives a good opportunity too watch a bunch of oldies. I watch a lot of not recent shows, there’s nothing wrong with that ^^
